Yes, it is true, we made the decision to close our Outlet store in Shawnessy this month.  This had been our original, brick-and-mortar location back in 2000 ~ boy have we come far!  

We started with a 1200 square foot store in Shawnessy and a kiosk at Market Mall back then.  Now here we are with 4 beautiful, second generation stores in Westhills, Crowfoot, Market Mall and South Center Mall!


Thanks to all of our loyal customers at the Shawnessy location, we hope to see you visit us at the lovely, new South Center store.  It is located on the lower level, near Starbucks (how convenient is that?)

Cannot believe it has taken until June 28th to actually feel like summer might be here!  We have had a soggy spring and mediocre June at best.  
Kids and I are super excited to buying a trailer/camper this week and have been going through every inch of the house looking for extra dishes, blankets and necessities to pack into it.  Funny how a closer look in the kitchen drawers show that we have 3 soup ladles, 4 different can openers and way too many spatulas!  Perfect timing as now we are splitting it all out and any extras are going to the Thrift Shop!  
First the splurge, now the purge and then the new camping urge!

So having said that, I am now looking for camping tips from all of our customers who are seasoned pros.  If you have some advice for packing a trailer, with wildenress gear, stocking a camper kitchen and all some insight as to what we REALLY need to bring and what should be left behind;  I am all ears!

How exciting to be an expectant mom on Mother's Day, especially if it is your first!
I remember my first one, 5 months pregnant with my first baby and having already suffered 3 miscarriages; I was beyond thrilled to be in my 5th month, sailing into my first Mother's Day!

We were living in Kourou, French Guyana (in South America) at the time, working 6 days a week running our very successful restaurant named "L'Abreuvoir".    We were dead tired every day and yet blissfully happy in the 40 degree heat, eating mangoes the size of grapefruits!

My very first Mother's Day gift is something I still cherish, 16 years later.  It is a beautiful apple green, fountain pen that my husband bought for me while we still lived in South America.  Being that I am an avid gadget lover, writer, note-taker, book nerd;  I have to admit, I have a full on fetish for beautiful pens.  I was the keener child who loved getting new school supplies, new pens, new pencils; I loved the way they felt, the way they smelled, ...everything!

My green beauty still sits in it's prominent spot of honour on my desk; clearly "top pen" nestled in it's pewter jar amongst my other office pens.  It stands proud and tall in the midst of the boring bics and highlighters as a reminder of how special and beautiful that first Mother's Day was for both me and my family in 1995.  

It has a few battle scratches on the shaft and has been used as a drumstick, back scratcher and letter opener.  Sadly, it honestly doesn't get used very often anymore, but it holds a very soft spot in my heart and will live in the exact same spot that it has held for the past 16 years, for the next 16 years.....maybe longer if I get the refill cartridges for it and start using it again!
